I ‘ve been listening to Bhangra music as long as I can remember, because it always gets me in a really good mood and enables me to have a touch with the Punjabi culture. I had danced professionally Bhangra in approximately 1 year before I decided to establish Bhangrabeats in 2014. It took me some time to learn to dance Bhangra and I gave up along the way, but today I am happy that I continued to practice. I can not imagine being without Bhangra in my life because it is such a happy and life-affirming dance. The music and its energy just compels one to move; you let go and feel the joy spread throughout the body.
What drives me to continue being a Bhangra dancer is the fact that it is very rewarding to teach so many people from different cultures and age groups. It is so inspiring and fantastic to be able to experience this and words can not fully express why I continue it. I feel that it was meant for me to share this joy with others. I am passionate about teaching and love to see people’s happy faces when they dance Bhangra!
